Best-Fit Designs
This is a design feature that calculates the least amount of dirt yardage to be moved.Although this is a simple and
economical solution to maintain flood, it maynot be the answer to your specific needs. A Best-Fit design will not
always please everyone. but it will take a problem area and make it manageable. In the designs below, the original
contours show how the field surveys as is. The computer then calculates a plane to a slope. The top field shows
a .007% fall to the north and .009% fall to the west at 185 yds/ac of dirt to be moved. The bottom field shows .004%
fall to the south and .066% fall to the west at 189 yds/ac. If you desire a different slope or direction, this will require
more yds/ac to be moved.
